About location of episode 26
e-mail received 24 April 2000

First of all, I really enjoy your Wonder Years site. It seems very well
researched, and is easy to navigate.

I would like to pass on some information that might be of interest to
you. In Episode 26, 24 Oct. 89, "Wayne on Wheels", the exterior shots of
the shopping mall were filmed at the Stonewood Shopping Center in
Downey, CA. I used to live 2 streets over from this mall, and recognized
it immediately.

There is a shot of Kevin and Paul walking together down a corridor early
in the episode. They are on the far west side of the mall at this point.
They are passing in front of the old Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor. Behind
them, there is a sign visible that says "Time-out arcade". That is an
actual sign of the arcade at that spot in the mall.

Earlier in the episode, Kevin and Paul are in the clothing store,
looking at shirts, when Kevin looks out of the window, and sees the
"dream girl". That appears to be filmed from inside a store just north
and east of the spot where they are walking, on the same corridor.

The exterior shot of the theater they enter also appears to be filmed at
that mall. The theater was also on the west side of the center, just
south of the other locations.

This center still exists, but it was renovated about 5-7 years ago. It
is an enclosed mall now, and all of the structures and facades are gone.
Time marches on...

I hope some of this is helpful to you. Take care.
